Frequently asked questions
Yes! Every day activities tighten your muscles enough to give you aches and pains, which massage will help to resolve.
General gym, swim, class users really benefit from sports massage as it loosens the muscles you are using in training and allows you to train harder and longer with a reduced risk of injury.
If you're really not sure, or just want more of a 'full body' experience; try a maintenance massage which still uses advanced techniques, but without some of the depth and pressure.
You will receive a warm welcome, followed by a professional and in depth assessment of your needs, building an understanding of; where you are currently in movement, outcomes wished for and long term goals of treatment.
Treatment will be discussed with you prior to commencing, your views and personal preferences are listened to and are crucial to your comfortability during the session.
During treatment you are in control, your wishes and views are respected and listened to. You will receive a personalised, tailored treatment informed by prior assessment.
At the end of the treatment you will be given after care advice and where applicable, active work for you to compliment your therapy with at home.
If you wish to have a chaperone present, this can be discussed and organised. Children can also be treated as I hold an enhanced DBS and have worked with children for many years, a parent or guardian will need to be present for the duration of the treatment.
Dress in comfortable clothes that you would be ok with residual massage medium (lotion, wax) potentially getting on post treatment. During treatment the affected areas will need to be seen and touched, so for lower body therapy wear shorts and for upper body, you maybe asked to remove your shirt.
Areas not being treated but that are exposed, can be covered with fresh towels during the session.
Everyone is different and it varies between each individual's situation, there is no set minimum or maximum amount of sessions. You will be given advice post treatment and you can decide from there.
Bookable sessions at Torton are limited, however please do get in touch as sometimes I have flexibility to work outside of advertised hours and days. Depending on your location, travel to your home maybe possible in some situations.
